The department undertakes all routine general surgical operations like - All types of hernias, hydrocoeles
- Haemorrhoids (Open surgery and banding are available)
- Anal fistulas, fissures and polyps
- Surgery of the thyroid gland, salivary (parotid and submandibular) glands
- Surgery for varicose veins, diabetic foot
- Laparoscopic surgery for removal of gall bladder/appendix/uterus and correction of hernias
- Screening and surgery for breast cancer and other breast swellings.
- Surgical management of acute trauma of the abdomen, chest, neck and soft tissues
- Gastrointestinal surgeries for peptic ulcer, tumours (of the stomach, small and large intestines, rectum, pancreas etc)
- Minor surgeries like circumcisions, vasectomies, excision of various swellings, biopsy of lymph nodes etc
- Diagnostic upper and lower gastrointestinal tract scopies are performed.
- The department has been involved in giving chemotherapy for its (post-operative) cancer patients.
